Snake triggers panic at SSKM Hospital

Post  Admin on Tue Aug 14, 2012 10:35 pm

KOLKATA: A snake triggered panic at the SSKM Hospital on Saturday evening. More than two feet in length, the reptile slithered out of a locked room under renovation at the Curzon ward Building of the hospital and dashed towards an adjoining bathroom. Labourers engaged in repairing the room raised an alarm. It led to a panic at the nearby male surgical ward with patients scampering out of their beds in fear. The snake was eventually killed inside the bathroom.

Though the SSKM authorities denied the snake had entered the ward, some patients claimed otherwise that they saw the snake from their beds. "My cousin was admitted at the ward. He saw the snake and rushed out along with several others. It could have led to a stampede," said Asit Ray.
