Handling feisty snakes !!! Empty Handling feisty snakes !!!

This is not a discussion of handling techniques but rather the actual experience of keepers of different species,I have had very little interaction with really nippy snakes. Once in hand many snakes ive handled are far less aggressive than in the vivs. Also the way a snake is held to me i feel is important. If it's allowed to slide slowly through the hand i find it becomes less aggressive. If it's held so it's can't move it's liable to thrash around, musk or strike or even all three. I feel a lot of snakes are headshy. Holding them near the head will cause them to thrash or strike. You get a feel for how far up the body you can hold a snake, even when using a hook.what interactions have you experienced with feisty snakes and whats your method of dealing with them?

Ok , i agree with your observation cause most snakes do likley to be more tame ,( i know a snake is never really tame) , when not being held tight . I do keep several nonvenemous aboreal snakes wich seem to have the tendency to be more agresive inside there viv then outsdie of it , for isntence my Spillotes pullatus will come straight for me when i open the door so i do so by using a hook to open it , when outside my female will calm down rather fast while my male ican only handle by hook cause he never calms down wich is not a very nice exprience with a rather fast 7 foot colubride . most of my ground living snakes again i am talking bout non venemous ,seem rather calm at all times insdie and outside there viv . as for venemous it rather depends on species i think , with a very few exceptions my crotalus species will be very moody no mather if in or out of viv , my bitis seem rather calm , i do wanna mention though i do never handle venemous without hook and gloves .
