Snake handler cops $40k fine after bite

A renowned NSW serpent handler has been banned from displaying animals and handed a $40,000 fine after a deadly tiger snake bit a man.

Peter Carter was showing a group of reptile enthusiasts how to handle venomous snakes at a Bathurst pet store in 2009 when a man in his 30s was bitten and rushed to hospital.
